My 4 Years of Harry Potter Experience

The movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 released in theatres a few weeks ago. As my birthday treat, I took my friends for the movie. The final part of the Harry Potter series was very exciting.

My favourite Harry Potter book is the Deathly Hallows. I liked it because it was really thrilling and exciting as the story had many twists. It was also the first (and last) Harry Potter book which I was waiting for, as I started reading the series just after the Order of the Phoenix (movie) released and by the time I caught up with the books, J.K. Rowling was writing or typing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The last few pages of the series were really confusing and it took me a while to understand them. I have all the Harry potter books except for the Order of the Phoenix and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which are the two books that I borrowed from my friends. The book that has the most pages is the Order of the Phoenix, but it is a bit boring.

My favourite movie was the Goblet of Fire (there is a lot of difference between the books and the movies). I felt the movie was good because there were many parts in the book which I wasn’t able to understand but the movie cleared all my doubts. My first Harry Potter movie in the theatre was the Half-Blood Prince. I did not like the movie because the duelling in the end was cut out (except for Harry shooting spells at Snape about 3 times). I did not like the Prisoner of Azkaban at all because there was no Voldemort which made the story a bit boring. The Deathly Hallows part 1 was really good because there was a lot of duelling. One of my favourite scenes was in the Order of the Phoenix movie, when Dumbledore fights Voldemort in the end.

Even though I knew Harry would win in the end, like the good person always does, it was really thrilling to watch him beat Voldemort. In the book, Voldemort died in one piece and he slumped across the floor but in the movie he just turned into dust and blew away which was a bit funny. My friends also thought that Voldemort saying the killing curse was very funny. The movie was a short one (the shortest of all 8) and it was just a little longer than 2 hours. The movie was good and I will be waiting for it to be shown on T.V.

When I and my friends were in 3rd grade, we used to act like Harry Potter. At that time it seemed very interesting, but, now I realise how silly it was… memorising the spells, imitating Voldemort, talking about magic school and quidditch, all sound funny now. But there were really fun things at that time. I still see young kids (who maybe came to know Harry Potter recently) doing it, and sometimes I feel like telling them it is very funny, but I always remember that even I used to do that. Almost everybody less than 20 years knows Harry Potter and it is an important part of their childhood.

The first Harry Potter movie released in 2001 and the last one released in 2011. This means that the actors spent 10 years acting in just the Harry Potter movies. This is a very long time and I think they must have literally lived like their characters for the past 10 years. I wonder if they’ll be able to act as other characters because I can only remember the characters they played in the Harry Potter movies – especially Harry, Ron and Hermione.
I have wanted two things to release since a very long time- one was the last Harry Potter movie and the other one was the last book of Power of 5 by Anthony Horowitz. Now that the first thing I wanted has been released, I'll be waiting eagerly for the second one.
